Tag des offenen Denkmals®: Simultankirche St. Maria und St. Christopherus

Bechtolsheim
on 13.09.2026 from 11:00 to 17:00 o'clock

The three-nave hall church of South German design was constructed from 1482 to 1494 by Bavarian stonemasons. Jacob of Landshut –later the head of the Strasbourg cathedral workshop– oversaw the construction. The rich furnishings date from the 15th to the 18th century, with the pews from 1496 featuring elaborate, colorful flat carvings by Erhart Falkener, and the choir stalls from the time of construction. The Stumm organ from 1756 was restored in 2015. The church is used and maintained by the Catholic and Protestant congregations.
