The "Römer" is one of the most beautiful half-timbered houses in Rheinhessen. Built around 1690, after its complete renovation it houses the wine bar and a small hotel with a very personal atmosphere. In the wood-panelled wine bar, guests enjoy local wines and good regional cuisine. In the heart of Alzey, on the Roßmarkt, the "Römer" invites you to the join the locals and enjoy typical specialities. The Römer offers the right premises for family and company celebrations, but also for business appointments.
The winery has been practising organic viticulture since 1978. The Schmitt family was one of the first winegrowers in Germany to take the concept of sustainability seriously and completely abandon the use of synthetic chemical fertilisers and sprays. They were co-founders of ECOVIN, the Federal Association of Organic Viticulture. The vaulted cellar dating back to 1865 is spanned by two stone arches. The logo of our winery shows them as a symbol of our winemaking tradition.
Cozy and tasteful, the twisted wine tavern has a lot to offer. Astrid and Stefan Michel, along with their team, exclusively serve self-produced wines from the Rheinhessen wine village of Weinolsheim. In the summer, you can enjoy a pleasant time in front of the wine house in the pedestrian zone. For groups of up to 50 people, a newly designed vaulted cellar is available. The Gutsschänke in the Burghof offers a stylish setting for family celebrations, club outings, or simply for cozy gatherings. With wonderful Rheinhessen weather, sitting in the romantic courtyard under the walnut tree is also very popular. As part of the Vino-Strauß series of the innovative wineries in Guntersblum, the Burghof Oswald winery also regularly opens its doors to the Straußwirtschaft.
