The winery has been practising organic viticulture since 1978. The Schmitt family was one of the first winegrowers in Germany to take the concept of sustainability seriously and completely abandon the use of synthetic chemical fertilisers and sprays. They were co-founders of ECOVIN, the Federal Association of Organic Viticulture. The vaulted cellar dating back to 1865 is spanned by two stone arches. The logo of our winery shows them as a symbol of our winemaking tradition.
Wine Shop & Wine Bar The Jakob Gerhardt Nierstein winery and sparkling wine cellar is a traditional business in the wine industry that has grown since 1751. Today, 75 hectares are cultivated, including the finest locations on the Rhine terrace. Here, top-quality wines are produced, establishing the Jakob Gerhardt winery as a significant provider of Rheinhessen wines. The name Guntrum has stood for exceptional wines since 1648. Today Konstantin Guntrum and his wife Stephanie continue the tradition in the 11th generation and set new trends. In 1923 Louis Jean George Guntrum built the manor house in Nierstein. Located directly on the proud Rhine, it has since created a home and identity for family and wines. In the middle of Rheinhessen, Louis Guntrum produces authentic wines typical of the variety.
The winery Hammen is crafting quality wines with a rich heritage. Over 20 varieties of grapes are harvested on the vineyards along the Selz valley. You can taste and enjoy the products in the winery or around the clock from the Vinomat vending machine.

The winemakers Jochen and Thilo Hein both have their home in the 'Zellertal', in the deep south of Rheinhessen. Their winery is family owned since 1837. Where Rheinhessen and the Palatinate meet, the vineyards in the valley extending from west to east are under the typical influence of the west wind. These natural conditions inspired both of the broters to call the winery 'Westwind Weine'. Freedom, change and strength are aspects that are associated with the wind.
