The Saalwächter Winery belongs to Ingelheim like the Imperial Palace and Pinot Noir. As early as 1853, Paul Christian Saalwächter laid the foundation for today's winery as mayor. Then as now, we are particularly enthusiastic about the Burgundy varieties from the lime-rich Ingelheim sites as well as our counterpart from the slate slopes in Assmannshausen. The winemakers Jochen and Thilo Hein both have their home in the 'Zellertal', in the deep south of Rheinhessen. Their winery is family owned since 1837. Where Rheinhessen and the Palatinate meet, the vineyards in the valley extending from west to east are under the typical influence of the west wind.
