Winery Gres

The Gres winery looks back on a good 300 years of winemaking tradition. The family came in the wake of the Huguenot banishment in 1684 from the Rhône Valley, where they had already done viticulture, to Rheinhessen. There, they planted 70,000 vines on 15 hectares in and around the municipality of Appenheim. The vineyards are located in five municipalities, so that for each grape variety an ideal location is available. The vines thrive particularly well on humus-rich limestone soils. In addition to national (Riesling,...

Wine and Sektgut Am Rothes - Hothum

"Am Rothes" - that is the finest Rheinhessen dialect and means "Am Rathaus" (By the town hall). There at the town hall in Aspisheim lies the winery of the Hothum family. A family business like a picture book. Karlfried and Regina Hothum have "written" a very exciting wine history in the small wine town with its XXL panorama. More than 20 years ago, they tackled the transition to organic farming, released a lot of energy and built a veritable sparkling wine factory. Now the children Andreas, Christoph and...

Winery Heinrich Groh

Being committed to quality is the highest standard at Groh winery. And it has been since 1899. The winery is already in the 4th generation, now managed by Axel Groh. His philosophy is based on the production of varietal, fruity wines, as they fit into the present time. Close to nature, but rationally the vines are cultivated and the wines vinified. A clear favorite among the grape varieties and "flagship" is the Chardonnay, which is aged in small wood, large wood and steel tanks. The flagship among the wines, the...

Winery Spiess GbR - Riederbacherhof

The Spiess family has been growing vines in Bechtheim since the year 1509. For a long time, the family was involved in livestock breeding alongside wine and arable farming. Only with the last generation, the decision was made, to only produce high quality wines. Jürgen Spiess, his wife Ute and their two sons, Christian and Johannes, never lost sight of what the family had learned in five centuries of farming: that respect for the family and nature is of great importance and how much can be achieved through hard...
